The Day of Your Procedure

Brachioplasty is a same-day (outpatient) procedure. Once you arrive at our designated surgical center and speak with the anesthesiologist, you will be placed under general anesthesia. Brachioplasty incisions are placed on the back of the arm (posteriorly) or inside the arm (medially), where the arm naturally rests along the body, depending on individual patient preference and goals. The length of the incision depends on the severity of laxity and the amount of skin to be excised. Regardless of where the incision is placed, a scar will be intermittently visible when the arm is in certain positions. After making the incision, we will remove excess fat and skin from the arm. Internal sutures are placed, and the remaining skin is then smoothed over the new contour of the arm before final sutures and dressings.

Recovery and Results

After surgery, we’ll use a compression dressing will be placed to limit swelling. You can expect your activities to be somewhat restricted for two weeks following the procedure to ensure proper healing and minimize swelling.

You will need a few weeks to recover and heal from an arm lift procedure and it will be at least one or two weeks before you can return to work. Additionally, you should plan to wait about ten days before driving.

Arm lift results are typically long-lasting. However, it’s important to remember that your skin will naturally lose some firmness as you age and some sagging might occur. Maintaining a stable, healthy weight can help you retain your results.
